Pendulum of Fate and Free Will
Astrology is the study of man’s response to heavenly bodies. Stars themselves do not hurt or help human beings; but they offer a lawful channel for the outward operation of karma (cause and effect), which each man has set into motion in the past. Swami Sri Yukteswar says that there are certain mechanical features in the law of karma, which can be skillfully modified by the finders of wisdom. Free Will has a definite say.
“The message boldly blazoned across the heavens at the moment of birth is not meant to emphasize fate, the result of past good and evil, but to arouse man’s Will to escape from his universal thralldom. What he has done, he can undo. None other than he himself was the instigator of the causes of whatever effects are now prevalent in his life. He can overcome any limitation, because he created them by his own actions in the first place, and then he possesses spiritual recourses that are not subject to planetary pressure”.- so says Paramahansa Yogananda. The wise man defeats his planets i.e., the past, by transferring his allegiance from creation to the creator. The soul is ever free and the stars cannot regiment the soul. Man makes himself fit for this world and heaven, through the course of his meritorious action.
It is not the Fate but the Free Will which has more influence on our Life.....
Stars are mere instruments in dispatching positive or negative results. They themselves do not hurt or help human beings, but offer a lawful channel for the outward operation of cause and effect equilibrium, which each man has set into motion in the past. The Vedas and scriptures declare that man must satisfy the laws of nature, while not discrediting the divine Omnipotence. The native should submit to the Lord and pray truthfully and sincerely. Nevertheless, he too must do his best to undo any wrong he has done and strictly adhere to precepts of dharma. There are many ways like prayer, increasing will power, yoga, meditation, contacts with saints, astrological remedies, gemstones etc.’ with which the adverse effects of the past wrongs can be minimized or nullified. Therefore, it is not the Fate but the Free Will which has more influence on the Life of an individual.
